
Brian Richmond is the Director of the National American Indian/Alaska Native Head Start Collaboration Office (NAIANHSCO) located within the Academy for Educational Development. As a proponent of tribal sovereignty, Mr. Richmond is committed to insure that resources are shared equitably with Head Start Region XI programs, and that native rights are acknowledged and respected. Prior to the creation of the Collaboration Office, he served with the American Indian/Alaska Native TA Network (AIAN-TAN) as a collaboration specialist and as a program design and management specialist. Mr. Richmond holds a Bachelor's in Public Health with a minor in Native American studies, a Master's in Public Health with an emphasis in rural/cross-cultural health, and a graduate certificate in Latin American studies. His public health doctoral studies focused on stress management and alternative medicine, and in addition to collaboration, he is dedicated to reducing stress and promoting positive mental health for Head Start staff, children and families.
