
Las Manos de Apá
Dee Wetzel, MSW currently works as the
Project Director for the Las Manos de Apá (The Hands of my Father) Head Start Innovation and Improvement Grant Project. The focus of the project is to develop a best practice model for the involvement of Latino fathers in the education of their children through early literacy activities. Previously, Ms. Wetzel has worked as the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Collaboration Office Coordinator and as a Local Technical Assistance Specialist for the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Technical Assistance Center. She has over 15 years of experience working with Migrant and Seasonal Head Start programs focusing on family involvement, father involvement, community development and early and family literacy. Ms. Wetzel holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work Degree.
Alexandra Flinn is the
Project/Finance Associate for Las Manos de Apá. As a Nicaraguan-American, who has lived and worked in Nicaragua, Ms. Flinn is bilingual and bicultural. As a volunteer worker for Hogar San José Protector in Managua, she helped develop an integrated program to provide social services, technical training, and local education to atrisk youth. Ms. Flinn holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Public Communications and Music. She brings professional experience in management, scheduling, program development and analysis to the office.
